InteRDom Organizes Orientation Day for 2008 Summer Interns

On June 9th, InteRDom held an Orientation Day for the students participating in the 2008 Summer Program. During the orientation, InteRDom team provided students with a detailed breakdown of what their involvement in the program would consist of – 40% academic study and 60% internship and program related activities,
including scheduled excursions; weekly seminars and events at FUNGLODE; journal entries; participation in the InteRDom Blog and interviews with InteRDom staff about their internships and program of studies. This year’s academic program will feature courses on Contemporary Caribbean Culture, Haitian Immigration to the Dominican Republic and Spanish as a Foreign Language.
 
On this day, students also
went on guided tours of GFDD and FUNGLODE facilities and the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) campus. While touring the university, students became familiar with the library, student life center and gym. The also received their course schedules and met with UNIBE staff.
 
InteRDom, established by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo
(FUNGLODE), is the premier internship and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations related to their field of study, and take courses and seminars at local universities.
