InteRDom Promotes Summer Programs on CCNY Campus

February 17, 2012

InteRDom will have an increased presence on the campus of the City College of New York during the next couple of weeks as it promotes the summer study and service learning programs and helps to increase the relevance of Dominican topics on campus.

On Thursday, February 16, InteRDom representatives traveled to City College and partnered with the Study Abroad Office to give an information session on summer programs in the Dominican Republic to interested
students. Students saw a video, presentation and asked questions to both the InteRDom and City College Study Abroad staff about the application process, financial aid and academic components.

The session was also attended by alumni of the 2011 InteRDom-City College Summer Service Learning program, who shared their experiences in the country and gave tips and advice to potential applicants.

All CCNY and CUNY students interested in these programs are
invited to attend a second information session on Thursday, March 29 from 12:30-2 p.m. in the Study Abroad office in NAC 5-216.

InteRDom representatives will also be joining the CCNY Dominican Student Association on campus on Thursday, February 23 for a celebration of Dominican Independence Day in the rotunda. Representatives will contribute to the efforts of the organization to educate students from diverse backgrounds about Dominican culture
and tradition, through traditional Dominican cooking, dance and music. Information will also be distributed about internship, study and service learning programs.

With this special collaboration with City College, InteRDom aims to set a precedent for other universities work with InteRDom to design creative programs that serve their unique student bodies. InteRDom is interested in offering opportunities abroad to increasingly diverse students with broad and varied academic
and professional interests.

The internship program, InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda,
obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
