Dozens of members of the technical and administrative team as well as special invited guests enjoyed an environmental film yesterday at the office of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources as part of the 6th edition of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF).

The DREFF supports the mission promoted by the concept of of “providing, through film, ideas about attitudes and actions that contribute to the protection of
natural resources and promoting the importance of sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.”

Among participating authorities was Ydalia Monegro Acevedo, Deputy Minister of Marine and Coastal Resources, who said there is no better moment than now to educate people about environmental issues affecting the world and how to prevent negative environmental impacts in the Dominican Republic.

On a day of three film screenings, the
multipurpose room of the Ministry was the spot chosen to show a program of short films from Australia: After the Spill and FrightenedThe True Cost of Maritime Transport, which expose the various environmental problems unique to 21st century development – and suggest solutions. The screenings were attended by the directors, Danielle Ryan, Jon Bowermaster and Denis Delestrac.
