More than 1,500 Students Will Participate in CILA 2007

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (ANU-RD) will organize the 2007 International Conference on the Americas (CILA), to take place October 10-14, 2007 at the Convention Center in Bávaro, Dominican Republic. More than 1,500 students from the Dominican Republic and the Region
will be attending the event.

 

This year’s unprecedented number of participants will be divided into 13 committees that will simulate the work carried-out by the United Nations and other organisms including the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, the UN Economic Commission on Latin America and the Caribbean and the UN Committee Against
Torture.

 

Throughout the 4 days, students will engage in debate and devise solutions to pressing social concerns. Students will also partake in seminars, workshops and fairs related to the UN Millennium Goals, Child Labor and Corporate Social Responsibility, amongst other topics. The official languages of CILA 2007 will be Spanish, English and
French.
