Natasha Despotovic Joins the Board of Counterpart International

After a unanimous vote, Natasha Despotovic, Executive Director of GFDD, was elected to the Counterpart International Board.  “She will add enormous intellectual capital to our work as we seek to be more helpful to the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Lelei LeLaulu, President and CEO of Counterpart
International.

Ms. Despotovic also is co-founder and Vice President of Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), GFDD’s sister organization created by Dr. Leonel Fernández after completing his first mandate as president of the Dominican Republic in the year 2000. As Vice President of GFDD, Ms. Despotovic has inspired, shaped, and developed the projects and programs of FUNGLODE/GFDD.

Under her leadership,
FUNGLODE/GFDD has established partnerships and cooperation agreements with public, private and non-governmental organizations in the Dominican Republic, as well as in Europe, Latin America and the United States. During this period of time, FUNGLODE/GFDD has brought to the Dominican Republic prominent national and international speakers, trend setters, and innovative programs in the areas of education, information technology, environment, international relations, corporate and social
responsibility, security, human capacity development and competitiveness.

“Counterpart International has done some highly innovative work on coral regeneration, mobilizing the rural poor to growing niche products for assured markets, and continues to be most helpful to the people of my region … so it is an honor to contribute to its well known governance structure,” said Ms. Despotovic after her election.

Counterpart International are partners in environmental research and community development projects being developed in the Dominican Republic.
