Seminar on Cinematographic Production with Producer David Valdes

GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), in collaboration with New York University’s Opportunity Program, and One Race Films, will present the seminar: “Cinematographic Production,” given by renowned producer, David
Valdes.

will discuss production techniques, the role of the producer, and his/her relationship with other members of the production team, project selection, and practical strategies for budgeting, amongst other topics.

 

holds a degree in
Theatre Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to working as a Producer he worked as an Assistant Director for renowned filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese and Wim Wenders.

 

Valdes has produced numerous films. Unforgiven(1992), directed by Clint Eastwood, received 4 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Other acclaimed films produced by Valdes
include: Gardens of Stone(1987); directed by Francis Ford Coppola; Bird (1988),directed by Clint Eastwood, starring Forrest Whitaker; The Dead Pool (1988), directed by Buddy Van Horn,featuring Jim Carrey and Liam Neeson; White Hunter Black Heart (1990), directed by and
starring Clint Eastwood; A Perfect World(1993), directed by Clint Eastwood,starring Kevin Costner and Clint Eastwood; In the Line of Fire (1993), directed by Wolfgang Petersen; Turbulence(1997), directed by Robert Butler, starring Ray Liotta and Lauren Holly; The Green
Mile (1999), directed by Frank Darabont; Open Range(2003), directed by Kevin Costner; and The Assassination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007), directed by Andrew Dominik.
