Sun, Fun and Team Work in the 11th GFDD Golf Tournament in Miami

On Monday, March 5, 2018, the GFDD held its 11th traditional golf tournament. The Miami edition was held at the impressive Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne with the participation of more than 90 players who enjoyed a beautiful day of golf.

The ceremonial kicks off was headed by Juan
Marichal, the first Dominican to enter the Baseball Hall of Fame, and Dr. Leonel Fernández, president of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD). Hundreds participated in the inaugural event of the popular golf tournament.  Also present were tournament director, Ricardo Jacobo; the director of the GFDD New York office, Yamile Eusebio Paulino, and GFDD Project & ICT Director, Semiramis de Miranda.

After the inauguration, the players took
their positions in the golf course to officially begin the tournament, which used the Four-Man Scramble format.

The tournament awards ceremony was held in the afternoon. During the event, organizers presented the institutional video of the GFDD and Ms. Eusebio thanked all participants for their continuous support. An additional video of the tournament highlights was also presented.

Tournament director, Ricardo Jacobo, thanked the
sponsors of the event, whose main objective is to raise funds for the successful activities carried out by the GFDD in the United States and so that it can continue the important work it continuously carries out.

With the presence of baseball great Juan Marichal and President Fernández, the names of the winners were announced. The unique trophies, a true work of art made of iron and created exclusively for the tournament by Jose Ignacio Morales – ‘El
Artístico’ – were issued to the following players:

The Dominican composer and singer Frank Ceara animated the evening with a repertoire of songs that the audience enjoyed.
