The International Conference of the Americas (CILA) is a student event about the most important global issues facing Latin America and the Caribbean. The 13th annual edition of CILA will take place from Sunday, October 29 until Thursday, November 2 2017, at the Convention Center of the Punta Cana Hard Rock Hotel in the
Dominican Republic.

CILA 2017 will be a meeting point for more than 500 young people from different regions of the world where they work together in a diplomatic and cooperative setting in search of solutions to challenges that face the international community. In addition to Dominicans from diverse regions of the country, young people from all of Latin America, including Mexico and Venezuela will participate.

At the conference, eight United Nations
entities and commissions as well as other multilateral, regional and international institutions will be simulated. Additionally, seminars, conferences, workshops and exhibitions will be offered, as well as social and cultural activities about topics directly related to the United Nations agenda.
CILA 2017 will be framed around a series of activities parallel to those of the United Nations, including: Seminar-Workshop for Teaching Assistants, Global Concert and Cultural
Meeting.

The official languages of the conference will be English and Spanish. This effort is carried out with Funglode, GFDD and GlobalMuners.

GlobalMuners is a private non-profit Mexican institution that seeks to promote the study and analysis of global topics and their impact on local and national levels among young people, with the intent of encouraging youth’s active participation in forums and entities that make decisions; such as on
multisector coordination sites and platforms.

The UNA-DR, Funglode and GFDD alliance will facilitate joint cooperation activities and the development of projects and programs specifically aimed toward children, adolescents and young people from all over the regions of Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the launch, testimonies from young people that have participated in past conferences offered testimony and attributed some of their professional
development and achievements to the knowledge gained from being part of those meetings.

About NYMUNLAC 2018
Over the past 12 years, UNA-DR, Funglode and GFDD have offered Dominican students a unique space for reflection and analysis on global topics with the New York-Dominican Republic Model United Nations Conference (NYDRMUN). GlobalMuners has contributed to this effort by expanding the conference’s horizons. Thus, NYDRMUN evolves
in the 2018 edition.

NYMUNLAC is the only meeting of its kind that offers young Dominicans the opportunity to debate in Spanish and present the conclusions of their work from the seats of official representatives of the 193 member states at UN headquarters in New York.

The event will take place from Sunday, April 1 until Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the New York Grand Hyatt Hotel and in the UN General Assembly.
