VIII Conference of Virtual Educa Brazil

Natasha Despotovic, Executive Director of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), and Vice President of Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will be one of the featured presenters at the VIII Conference of Virtual Educa Brazil, which will take place Monday, June 18 – Friday, June 22, 2007, in São José dos Campos in São Paulo, Brazil.
 
This year’s conference, “Education, Formation, Innovation and Development: New Challenges – New Possibilities,” will assemble educators and specialists in technology in education from both Europe and the Americas in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences related to the use of technology in higher education, cooperation and innovation in educational systems, and technological training.
 
On June 22, 2007, during the forum: “Cultural Industry, Innovation and Education,” Despotovic will discuss the diverse initiatives implemented by GFDD and FUNGLODE in the area of technology and communication. Her presentation, “The Global Media Arts Institute: Program Development, Consciousness Raising and Multimedia,” will highlight the plethora of innovative seminars, workshops, and seminars on
audiovisual production offered by the Global Media Arts Institute.
 
Her second presentation, “The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival: Promoter of Culture and International Cinematography,” will outline the Festival’s objectives, past accomplishments and future aspirations.
 
The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival seeks to raise awareness of
global issues by presenting stories that pertain to events and people that impact people’s lives. In addition to this, the Festival strives to promote the Dominican Republic as a prime location in which to shoot television and film productions.  
 
Alejandrina Germán of the Dominican Ministry of Education, Ligia Amada Melo of the Dominican Ministry of Education, Science and
Technology, and Dominican educator, Altagracia López of the Center for Documentation on Higher Education and Innovation INTEC – Virtual Educa, also will be representing the Dominican Republic at Virtual Educa Brazil 2007.
 
GFDD and FUNGLODE strongly support and promote Virtual Educa’s mission, and are proud to be regional hosts of Virtual Educa’s Caribbean Chapter.
 
The Ibero-American Forum on New Technology took place April 2007 at FUNGLODE headquarters in Santo Domingo.
