Henrique Cardoso stated that the rising of leftist parties in Latin American countries still does not represent a threat to democracy in the region.

  • GFDD at UN DPI/NGO Section Briefing on Monterrey Consensus

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), represented by Maria Victoria Abreu, participated in the weekly briefing meeting of the United Nations Department of Public Information, NGO Section (UN DPI/NGO), which focused on The Monterrey Consensus and the United Nations Development Agenda.

  • GFDD and FUNGLODE Sign Agreement with Canadian Foundation for the Americas

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), signed a 5-year agreement on technical cooperation, diplomatic and international matters, and professional trainings and research projects, with the Canadian Foundation for the Americas, FOCAL.

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) participated in a panel discussion on ‘How free software and eGovernment are changing developing countries’, held at United Nations headquarters in New York City.

  • Lecture on Education and Development Presented by Jeffrey Sachs

    The economist Jeffrey Sachs, Director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University and Director of the UN Millennium Project and Special Advisor to the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, on the Millennium Development Goals, was the guest of the XI Lecture Series of the Americas.

  • UTEM Virtual Grants Free Access to Distance Education

    As a result of the many partnerships and alliances developed during the International Week on Distance Education, organized by FUNGLODE/GFDD in Santo Domingo, February 13-17, 2006, one of the participating institutions, Metropolitan Technological University, UTEM Virtual for its Spanish initials, donated the Dominican Ministry of Basic Education with free access to the Drweb platform.

  • GFDD and FUNGLODE Launch InteRDom: Internships in Dominican Republic
