GMAI Awards Certificates of Completion to Students of Cinematographic Scriptwriting
On February 15, 2008, GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), awarded certificates of completion to the students that participated in the Institute’s workshop on cinematographic scriptwriting, taught by renowned Cuban Novelist and Scriptwriter, Eliseo Altunaga.

National Geographic, GFDD and FUNGLODE Launch First Dominican Republic Adventure Map
The National Geographic Society (NGS) has just published the first adventure map of the Dominican Republic. The project has been made possible thanks to support from Dominican President, Dr. Leonel Fernández, and collaboration by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the Instituto Cartográfico Militar Dominicano (Dominican Military Institute of Cartography)

Dominicana Online’s Virtual Library Substantially Increases Access to Dominican Literary Works
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) have recently added an impressive list of publications to Dominicanaonline.org’s Virtual Library, which provides the global community access to a wide repertoire of the best Dominican literature in Spanish. The Library currently features 30 literary works.

Best Practices and Process Models for Software Engineering
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), together with the Instituto Tecnólogico de las Américas (ITLA – Technological Institute of the Americas) will organize the conference, “Best Practices and Process Models for Software and Engineering,” to be presented by Dr. Hanna Oktaba of the Department of Science at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM – National University of Mexico).

George Washington University Students Present Project Proposals for InteRDom’s 2008 Summer Program
Approximately 200 students presented project proposals for InteRDom’s 2008 summer program, during the Opportunity Knocks Career and Information Fair, an event organized by George Washington University, in which InteRDom and 100 other organizations participated.

GMAI Presents Workshop on Directing the Actor
GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI) will be offering an innovative workshop on the Stanislavsky system of acting. “Directing the Actor” will emphasize the exploration of human emotions. The workshop will take place March 3-7, 2008, from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm, at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo.

Virtual Educa 2008 Will Unite Leading Experts in Education from Across the Globe
Public and private sector representatives in the area of education from Latin America, the United States and Europe will assemble in Santo Domingo, March 5-7, 2008, to celebrate the third edition of Virtual Educa Caribe. The international conference will serve as a platform for experts to share experiences and innovative methods regarding the use of technological tools in teaching and learning processes.

GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute Will Offer 3 Scholarships to Study Film in Cuba
GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), in collaboration with the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV – International School for Television and Film) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, will award three scholarships to Dominican students between the ages of 22 and 28, to take courses at EICTV for a period of three years (2008-2011), in the areas of Direction, Production, Scriptwriting, Documentary Film, Photography, Sound and Editing.
