The jury of the Short Films Competition, comprised of experienced film professionals from the Dominican Republic and abroad, has chosen the winners of the II Short Films Competition of the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival. Out of the eleven finalists, the jury has awarded three short films for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
The Fourth Dominican Republic Global Film Festival ended Monday 22 on a high note with fundraising concert by star of stage and screen Liza Minnelli. President Leonel Fernandez that afternoon had just added “Officer of the Heraldic Order of Christopher Columbus” (Orden Heráldica de Cristóbal Colón en el Grado de Oficial) to her three Tony Awards, an Oscar, an Emmy, two Golden Globes and a Grammy Legend Award.
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) in collaboration with the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute and The Grove School of Engineering co-sponsored the panel: “The Role of Science in the Economic Development of the Dominican Republic,” on November 6, 2010.
