Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) is pleased to be partnering once again with the Dominican Commissioner for Culture in New York to celebrate the 6th Annual Dominican Book Fair. The Fair will be celebrated September 28-30, 2012 at Boricua College in the Bronx.

Out of DREFF 2012’s diverse selection of 24 acclaimed films – 13 featured films, 6 short films, 3 Dominican productions and 2 retrospectives – audience members selected their top picks.

During the forum, which commemorated the International Day of Peace, the former Dominican President referred to the wave of violence that erupted in countries with large Muslim populations over the release of an amateur video that has been viewed as insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) is pleased to announce that Mr. Isaac Vásquez Montilla has been selected by GFDD, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) to serve as the Dominican Republic Youth Delegate before the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs Committee (Third Committee) of the General Assembly.

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development will Host Second Golf Tournament in New York
On Monday, October 1, 2012, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will host its 2nd GFDD Golf Tournament on the picturesque grounds of the Fresh Meadow Country Club, located in Flushing, Queens. The benefit will help support the numerous projects and programs realized by the Foundation, which seek to foster social, economic and democratic development in the Dominican Republic.

Dominican Teachers will Participate in Competition in Peru, with Support from GFDD, FUNGLODE, Microsoft and the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic
Four Dominican teachers will participate today, September 19, and tomorrow, September 20, in the competition “Innovative Teachers” in Lima, Peru, which is the result of a collaboration between Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), Microsoft’s Partners in Learning Program, and the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic.

Dominicans Reaffirm their Commitment to Protect Biodiversity during Dominican Chapter of Citizen Dialogue
On Saturday, September 15, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) successfully concluded the Dominican Chapter of the Citizen Dialogue on Biodiversity, during the initiative “World Wide Views on Biodiversity,” organized by the Technology Council of Denmark, with support from the United Nations Convention on Biodiversity.
