InteRDom and Fellows Program to Participate in 7th Annual National Dominican Student Conference
For the 6th consecutive year, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will be represented at the National Dominican Student Conference through its programs InteRDom Internships in the Dominican Republic and Fellows Program.

Honorary President of GFDD and FUNGLODE, Dr. Leonel Fernández, in His New Capacity as Vice President of the Eminent Persons Group of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States
On March 26, the former President of the Dominican Republic, and honorary President of GFDD and FUNGLODE, Dr. Leonel Fernández, was chosen as Vice President of the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) of the African, Caribbean and Pacific states (ACP).

GFDD and FUNGLODE Support Dominican Youth at New York Dominican Republic Model UN (NYDRMUN)
On March 21-24 the United Nations General Assembly Hall and the Convention Center of the New Hilton Hotel were hosting some 600 Dominican students who came to New York to participate in the ninth edition of the Dominican Republic Model United Nations (NYDRMUN).

DR Environmental Film Festival and Globo Verde Dominicano Award Bring Dominican Filmmaker to the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital
Armando Larrauri, winner of the first Globo Verde Dominicano environmental short film competition, was hosted by GFDD and FUNGLODE during the DC Environmental Film Festival which took place in the Washington, DC metropolitan area from March 12-24. Mr. Larrauri””s visit to the nations capital, and participation in the Film Festival, was part of the prize package he won having placed first in the Globo Verde Dominicano competition.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Dominican Film Showcase Airs in Washington, DC April 9-12, 2013
Partnering with the Art Museum of the America’s of the OAS, the Department of Sustainable Development of the OAS, the Dominican Republic Permanent Representative to the OAS and the Dominican Republic Embassy to the White House, GFDD is delighted to announce the second edition of the 2013 Dominican Film Showcase Program. The event will take place in Washington, DC on April 9-12, at the OAS’s Art Museum of the Americas as a CineAmericas initiative.

GFDD and the DR Environmental Film Festival collaborate with the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital
The Twenty-first edition of the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital came to a close today after two intense weeks, during which more than 190 documentary, narrative, animated, archival, experimental and children’s films were screen throughout the Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia region.

New York Audience Meets with the Works of Acclaimed Dominican Film Directors at City College
The first edition of the 2013 Dominican Film Showcase Program came to greet the New York public in City College of New York, CUNY on March 21-22, 2013. During this interactive event, GFDD was pleased to present the Dominican Republic under a constructive and engaging light introducing it through the work of accomplished Dominican filmmakers, Fernando Baez, Leticia Tonos and Freddy Vargas.

GFDD-inspired Dominican environmental films screened at the DC Environmental Film Festival 2013
Two Dominican environmental productions were screened in Washington, DC, during the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital, under the program Living Waters, Ocean Life, developed in a collaboration with GFDD/FUNGLODE’s Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF).

GFDD Launches New Community and School Gardens Website
On Friday March 22, GFDD/FUNGLODE was proud to launch a new website highlighting its EcoHuertos Program, which supports the creation of sustainable vegetable gardens in schools and communities across the Dominican Republic. The program, which to date has created vegetable gardens in 12 schools and 2 community centers in Santo Domingo, Bani and Azua, continues to expand by reaching new educational centers and offering technical workshops designed
to increase the students knowledge base.

Dominican Youth Gather to Help Resolve Current Global Issues in Collaboration with the UN
On March 21-25, 2013, GFDD and FUNGLODE in partnership with the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR), a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to support the work of the United Nations, will be welcoming over 400 Dominican students to New York City. They will meet to participate in the ninth edition of the Dominican Republic Model United Nations (NYDRMUN) which will take place at the Convention Center of Hilton Hotel.
