GFDD Present as 2nd Dominican Film Festival in New York Opens to a Full House
On Friday, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development participated in the 2nd Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNY) with the documentary, Ballplayer: Pelotero. This compelling documentary narrated by John Leguizamo is a gritty look inside the world of Major League Baseball (MLB) training camps in the Dominican Republic. Miguel Angel and Jean Carlos are two of the top prospects at an MLB training camp.

Dominican Film Festival in New York Screens GFDD-produced Short Films
A day before the II Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNY) came to a close, New York audiences had an opportunity to enjoy the most enlightening of Dominican short films produced by a new generation of Dominican filmmakers as well as established ones.

III DREFF Convenes First Volunteer Meeting
On Tuesday, July 2, the organizers of the Third DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will convene two separate meetings, one at 10 am and the other at 5 pm, to interview potential volunteers for the upcoming third edition of the Festival to be celebrated
September 4-8, 2013.

On Wednesday, June 26 in the Alumni Auditorium, Columbia University Medical Center, New York City, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the DR, FUNGLODE, participated as an honored guest at the Opening Night Red Carpet Event of the Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNY).

On Tuesday, June 25, on the occasion of Dominican Get-togethers in the Big Apple, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and FUNGLODE, proudly hosted highly regarded Dominican film director and producer, Fernando Baez. The honoured guest was a featured participant in the discussion forum “Dominican Cinema: Development of an Art-form and an Industry” organized by the Foundation at the Instituto Cervantes in New York City.

GFDD and FUNGLODE’s EcoHuertos Program Takes Root in Haiti
On June 22, GFDD/FUNGLODE are proud to announce that Ecohuertos, a program that supports the creation of organic and sustainable vegetable gardens in schools and communities throughout the Dominican Republic, will be heading to Haiti to meet with twenty women in the village community of Le Brun in the municipality of Paillant, Haiti.

The former President of the Dominican Republic and honorary President of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), Dr. Leonel Fernández, participated in an Inter-American seminar on public leadership, together with a large group of former Latin American presidents and senior officials from the State Department of the United States of America, as well as
representatives of cooperation agencies, academics and entrepreneurs.

On June 13, at Claro Negro Lounge in Upper Manhattan, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) participated in a press conference in the event of the Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNY). The Festival that will be held from June 26-30, 2013 at the Alumni Auditorium, Columbia University Medical Center, New York City, and is in part made possible through the collaboration and support of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development.
