Dominican Film Showcase in Paraguay
As part of its initiative, the Dominican Film Showcase, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will present on Monday, June 2nd, 2014, the film “Ana’s Struggle”, by Dominican film director Bladimir Abud, winner of the Soberano Award for best film in 2013 and the award for best actress, with the extraordinary participation of Cheddy Garcia.

On May 30, GFDD’s Executive Director, Ms. Natasha Despotovic sat down with Ambassador Ruiz Diaz Bareiro, the Permanent Representative of Paraguay to the Organization of American States (OAS) for the next edition of the GFDD Global Roundtables. Ambassador Ruiz Diaz, who has over 22 years’ experience as a career diplomat, provided insight on the importance of poverty eradication within the post-2015 development agenda.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Partners with British Embassy for a Conference focused on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict
On June 10, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will organize a conference in partnership with the British Embassy, and with the support of the Ministry of Women in Dominican Republic and the United Nations Dominican Association, on the topic of Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict.

Dominican Film Showcase Ends on a High Note Celebrating Dominican Republic’s Rich Musical Heritage
GFDD’s Dominican Film Showcase, hosted in partnership with the Dominican Film Festival in New York and the Dominican Cultural Commission in the United States, ended on a high note on Friday, May 23, with its final film presentation of a popular music documentary “Sol Caribe” at the Symphony Space venue in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

Bilateral Business Council to be Launched between the Dominican Republic and India
Former president of the Dominican Republic and President of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development Foundation, Leonel Fernández convened a meeting at GFDD’s New York office with representatives of some 14 Indian companies, based in the United States, to create a Bilateral Business Council underpinning firm corporate business exchanges between the Dominican Republic and India.
