Over 100 Golf Players Participated in the 5th GFDD Golf Tournament Held in New York
More than 100 golf players participated in the 5th Golf Tournament sponsored by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) at Fresh Meadow Country Club in Long Island, New York, on September 29th. The tournament, which took place in a fun atmosphere and a perfect weather for playing golf, is part of GFDD’s initiatives to share time with partners and friends and, at the same time, promote fundraising to continue its efforts to implement a variety of projects geared
toward the development of the Dominican Republic and Latin America.

GFDD to Attend the 2014 Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group in Washington, D.C.
Representatives of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will attend the 2014 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG), as part of our institution’s mission to actively participate in civil society policy discussions and forums on international and global pressing topics related to development.

The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) successfully participated in the 8th edition of the Dominican Book Fair in NY,collaborating with the celebration of important activities.

Successful GDAE Concludes at the University of Pennsylvania
The historic camus of the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) served as a beautiful backdrop for the fourth Global Dominican Academic Exchange program, Exploring Our History and Moving Forward, from September 22-27, 2014. The UPenn Dominican student group, Grupo Quisqueyano, served as host to the eight Dominican college students from a variety of universities and study areas, and introduced them to the life of an Ivy League student at the University of
Pennsylvania.

GFDD Program ReCrearte Celebrated a Recycled Art Workshop at the Dominican Republic Consulate in New York
ReCrearte program, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), successfully held a recycled art workshop on Thursday 26th at the Dominican Republic Consulate headquarters in New York City, were Bertha Santana, ReCrearte program coordinator, spoke to approximately 35 people.

GFDD staff was busy covering a week of intense activity at the United Nations in New York as the High-level meetings of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly (the main deliberative, policymaking and representative organ of the UN) got underway on Monday, September 22.

Thanks to the collaboration of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), the Dominican movie La Montaña (“The Mountain”) will be screened at the Providence Latin American Film Festival (PLAFF), to be held October 2-5, 2014 in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) production Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience, as well as Primeros Pasos, 1st place winner in the second edition of Globo Verde Dominicano Award, has been selected as finalists in the 2014 edition of ECOFILM Festival.
