GFDD to Attend the Special Events of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly
The United Nations Headquarters in New York City is abuzz with activity as the High-level meetings of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly (the main deliberative, policymaking and representative organ of the UN) kick off today on Monday, September 22. These meetings will be followed on Wednesday by the start of the General debate that runs until September 30.

GFDD Program ReCrearte to Hold a Recycled Art Workshop in NY
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), thru its ReCrearte Program, will hold a recycled art workshop in New York on Thursday, September 25th, 2014. The workshop, offered by Bertha Santana, ReCrearte Coordinator, will be held at the Dominican Consulate offices from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, and it is open to the general public but with limited capacity.

GFDD Launches New Book on Sustainable Development and Green Economy
On Saturday September 13th 2014, during the IV Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) launched the book Hacia el desarrollo sostenible y la economía verde en la República Dominicana (Towards sustainable development and green economy in Dominican Republic) which includes a brief analysis of the current sustainable
development in a global context, a compilation of national and international legislation regarding said topics and a practical guide to promote environmental sustainability and resilience from both business and household perspectives.

On September 10th, 2014, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) showcased amazing photographs of the Dominican Republic from its New Perspectives book, the Dominican Republic Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Environment and other publications and promotional material of the Dominican culture during the Organization of American States (OAS) celebration of the CXCIII anniversary of the independence of Central America and the XXXIII anniversary of the independence of
Belize.

IV DREFF Officially Inaugurated in Santo Domingo
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), commenced their IV annual Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), a five-day event held from September 10 to 14, 2014. More than 80 screenings in 10 auditoriums and venues across the Dominican Republic will showcase 37
films including Dominican films, feature and short films as well as GFDD productions related to environmental and sustainable development topics.
