    With the participation of renowned experts from the Dominican film industry the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), and in collaboration with the Dominican Republic Film Commission (DGCINE, by its Spanish initials), presented the panel “The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an engine of socio-economic development”, on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at GFDD offices in Washington, D.C., as part of the Dominican Film
    Showcase (DFS).

  • With a Full House La Montaña Inaugurates the Dominican Film Showcase in Washington, D.C.

    Before a full house the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), inaugurated the Dominican Film Showcase (DFS) in Washington,D.C on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 with the presentation of the docudrama La Montaña, directed by Tabaré Blanchard and Iván Herrera. This event marked the beginning of a program that will run in the
    capital of the United States until Sunday, November 23.

  • Dominican Businesses Taking Ownership of Sustainability

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), proactively participated at the Business Forum: “Emissions”” Reduction and Business Opportunities in Value Chain Co-Processing in the Dominican Republic”.

  • Celebrating the Iberoamerican Artistic Heritage in Washington, D.C.

    With a welcoming reception on November 12, 2014, held at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C., the embassies from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Perú, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela, in collaboration with the Iberoamerican Cultural Attachés Association (AACIA) and Fotoweek DC, inaugurated the photographic exhibition "Contemporary Identities/Invisible
    Gestures".

  • GFDD Attends UN Briefing Session on the Ebola Outbreak

    On Thursday November 12 2014, a meeting was held at United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York to discuss the current status of the Ebola outbreak, in the presence of Dr. David Nabarro, UN system Senior Coordinator for the response to Ebola Virus Disease. GFDD staff was in attendance to report on the findings.
