“The Film Industry as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development in the Dominican Republic” to be Discussed at GFDD
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), through its initiative Dominican Film Showcase (DFS), will host a discussion panel on “The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development”. The contributions of the Law for the Promotion of Film Activity (No. 108-10) and the development of the film industry in the country in the recent years will be analyzed.

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) was present on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the annual gala of the Asociación de Veganos en USA (ASOVEUSA, by its Spanish acronym), an organization that also commemorated the 4th anniversary of its incorporation. The activity took place at the Malcolm X Shabazz Center, located on Broadway, New York.

An enthusiastic audience attended this year’s edition of BLUE Ocean Film Festival, held during November 3-9, 2014 in the city of St. Petersburg, Florida, where they had the opportunity to see the documentary Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience on Friday, November 7, a film produced by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode). The documentary, which was a
finalist in the category of Foreign Language Film, was directed by Natasha Despotovic, Executive Director of GFDD.

GFDD-Funglode’s short film “Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience” will be screened this Friday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the BLUE Ocean Film Festival, taking place this week at St. Petersburg, Florida. The film, a finalist in the category of Foreign Language Film, was directed by Natasha Despotovic, Executive Director of GFDD.
