GFDD and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic invited, once again, to CUA’s Global Fest
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the United States showcased the Dominican Republic at the Catholic University of America (CUA)’s annual Embassy Exhibit. In correlation with the university’s Global Fest, the event took place February 18, at their campus in Washington, D.C.

GFDD/Funglode to Host UN Panel Discussion on the Dominican Republic’s Efforts to Reduce Violence against Women and Promote Gender Empowerment
The Dominican Republic, together with 121 other countries endorsed the United Nations General Assembly’s Declaration of Commitment to End Sexual Violence in Conflict on October 2, 2013. Looking to extend this effort further, GFDD and Funglode would like to present an update session on the Dominican Republic’s efforts to reduce violence against women and promote gender empowerment to this year’s participants of the 60th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women.

More than fifty students from Politécnico Ann & Tedd Kheel enjoyed a special screening of the film La Montaña, thanks to a GFDD/Funglode collaboration initiative, within the framework of its Year Round Environmental Film Screenings program, part of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF).

GFDD/Funglode Promotes Identity and National Pride Values in Puntacana
By screening the documentary La Montaña, GFDD/Funglode in collaboration with Puntacana group and the Puntacana Ecological Foundation, had the purpose of promoting values of identity and national pride among Dominicans living in the eastern part of the country. The activity was held at the Puntacana Village Commercial Galleries, and counted with the presence of 200 people from the community, as well as authorities and representatives of the Puntacana group.

The head of the Organization of American States’ (OAS’s) electoral observer mission and former president of the Dominican Republic Dr. Leonel Fernández highlighted on Sunday afternoon that, in general, the voting in Bolivia had taken place peacefully, save a few isolated issues that were resolved by the electoral authorities.

A book that compiles 5 years of research and presents the essence of the Dominican Republic through fun facts, images and perhaps unknown information to the new generations.

OAS Mission congratulated Bolivians for their high turnout in the referendum and makes recommendations for future processes
The Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (EOM / OAS) in Bolivia, headed by the former president of Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández, congratulated the Bolivian people “for their high turnout, civic spirit and democratic sense” expressed in the constitutional referendum on Sunday, February 21st, in this South-American country.
