  • Do You Want to Be an Environmental Filmmaker and Travel Around the World with Your Movies? Premio Globo Verde Dominicano Gets You One Step Closer to Your Goal!

    The Globo Verde Dominicano Award, a GFDD/Funglode and DREFF initiative, is a unique opportunity for filmmakers, students and young professionals who want to venture into a fairly uncharted area in the Dominican Republic -the creation of environmental audiovisual material- as well as to show their work to a national and international audience. For example, the short film 7 Grams, winner of Premio Globo Verde Dominicano 2015, has been presented
    this year in 4 different international festivals: DCEFF in Washington, D.C.; Princeton Environmental Film Festival, in New Jersey; Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, in New York; and Festival del Cine Pobre de Gibara, in Holguin (Cuba); in addition to the Dominican Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) during the award ceremony last September. This year there´s still time, submit your work before July 31!

    The President of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), former Dominican Republic president, Dr. Leonel Fernández said on Thursday that the slowdown in the Chinese economy could pose an opportunity for Latin American and Caribbean countries, many of which are now facing serious difficulties following several years of economic bonanza.

  • InteRDom Summer Program 2016 Kicks Off in Santo Domingo

    The 2016 InteRDom Summer Program officially began on June 9th, 2016 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and welcomed a diverse group of students. Scholars in the program come from the United States, Bolivia and Namibia, significantly expanding our reach to international students.

  • Dr. Fernández and the President of Colombia Examine the Dialogue Process in Venezuela

    The President of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), and former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández, met on June 15th with Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santos, with whom he talked about the efforts carried out jointly with other former rulers in pursuit of a peaceful solution to the crisis affecting Venezuela.

  • New York Launch of Análisis de la programación de la televisión abierta dominicana

    The Graduate School of Journalism at City University of New York (CUNY) will host the launch of the book Análisis de la programación de la televisión abierta dominicana (Analysis of the Programming of the Dominican Broadcasting Television) next Thursday, June 23rd in New York and it will be conducted by the Research Center of Communication Funglode (CIC-Funglode). Elina María Cruz, coordinator of the publication and director of the center, will attend the event,
    organized by GFDD / Funglode, along with other academics, politicians, and media. “This is an unprecedented investigation on television programming, while showing the peculiarities of Dominican society and concerns about the behavior of the citizen viewer” Cruz explains.

  • Leonel Fernández, Panelist at the World Economic Forum in Medellin, Colombia

    Dr. Leonel Fernández, president of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) travels Monday to Colombia, where his agenda includes a meeting with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, at Palacio de Nariño, in Bogotá, and his participation as a panelist at the World Economic Forum on Latin America 2016 to be held in Medellín.
