GFDD Hosts its 8th Golf Tournament to Support Sustainable Socioeconomic Development in the Region
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) celebrated its 8th Golf Tournament this past Monday, September 26 at the prestigious Glen Head Country Club in Long Island, New York. The purpose of this event was to raise funds in benefit of the multiple programs and initiatives put into action by GFDD in the Dominican Republic and abroad. Over a hundred players came together and spent a beautiful fall afternoon around the 18 holes’ golf course in support of the
organization.

Dr. Leonel Fernández to Present “Dominican Republic 2044” Project on Tuesday in New York
This Tuesday, Former Dominican President, Dr. Leonel Fernández, will introduce “República Dominicana 2044” (RD2044) at an event in New York City. The project, being carried out under the auspices of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), is a vision for development and infrastructure for the next 30 years.

GFDD / Funglode Publications Donated to the Center for Latin American Studies at the New York University
The president of GFDD / Funglode and former president of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández, visited today the Center for Latin American Studies at the New York University (CLACS), where he made a donation of 50 books published by GFDD/Funglode, as well as the collection of Revista Global.

GFDD attended the fourth edition of the International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) at Columbia University in New York City on September 21-22, 2016. The theme of this year’s ICSD, hosted by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the Earth Institute’s Global Master’s in Development Practice (MDP) program was Moving Forward: The SDGs in Practice.

Nobel Peace Prize Winner from 2007 and Landfill Harmonic Are Highlights at the Closing Ceremony of the DREFF 2016
The sixth edition of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) came to an end with a flourish today after six wonderful days, 140 screenings in over 40 venues in 11 cities, making 2016 the largest and most influential Festival to date. Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize and the movie, Landfill Harmonic, winner of the Green Film Network Award, the Oscar of environmental film, were the stars of the
evening, which took place at Funglode’s headquarters in Santo Domingo. The DREFF and Dominican Republic were this year’s hosts and organizers of the prestigious Green Film Network Award, held for the first time in a Latin American country.

Environmental Film Festival Tribute to Dominican Filmmakers at DREFF 2016
Funglode opened its doors this evening to host a film and environmental celebration with the Dominican Republic and its filmmakers as protagonists. During the evening, attended by Dr. Leonel Fernandez, president of Funglode and GFDD, the Globo Verde Dominicano 2016 Awards were handed out in the categories of Short Film, Public Service Announcement, Junior and Photography. Numerous personalities from the world of film and culture were present along with international guests from all
over the world.
