GFDD Production Value of Life Finalist at the Blue Ocean Film Festival 2016
Value of Life, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) latest production, has been chosen by an international jury as a finalist, together with other 5 films, in the category of Short Productions. This category honors the best short films between 5 and 20 minutes in length that are “engaging, creative and empowering”, according to the organizers. Furthermore, it is Natasha Despotovic´s, the Executive Director of GFDD and DREFF, third year as a
judge; in this edition for the category of Cinematography. As collaborators and friends Blue Ocean Film Festival, Despotovic, and other members of the staff will attend the event to take place November 10 to 17 in Tampa Bay/ St. Petersburg.

The Dominican Book Fair in New York Recognizes GFDD/Funglode as Special Collaborator
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) successfully participated, collaborating with the celebration of important activities, in the 10th edition of the Dominican Book Fair in NY, which took place from October 28 to 30. On this occasion GFDD/Funglode received recognition as a special collaborator of the annual Dominican Book Fair.

New York Welcomes Once Again the Dominican Film Showcase with the Comedy Todos los hombres son iguales and the Documentary Nana
The city of New York welcomes, for the third consecutive year the Dominican Film Showcase, a Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) initiative, with a comedy and a documentary: Todos los hombres son iguales by Manuel Gómez Pereira, and Nana by Tatiana Fernández Geara.

The Mexican Sunú, DREFF Audience Award 2016
The Mexican film Sunú, directed by Teresa Camou, rose to the top this year as winner of the DREFF Audience Award from among more than 40 films and 140 screenings. Seen through the eyes of small, medium, and large Mexican maize producers, Sunú weaves different stories in a threatened rural world.

Screening of Landfill Harmonic: Alliance between DREFF and the Dominican Republic Constitutional Court

GFDD to Partner with UNA-USA Council of Organizations and other NGOs for UN Panel Discussion on Climate Change and its Impact on Children’s Health
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) in partnership with the United Nations Association of America Council of Organizations (UNA USA COO) and the Institute for Life Sciences Collaboration will host a panel discussion to celebrate the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (the 2030 Agenda), as ratified by the UN General Assembly. Dr. Leonel Fernández Leads Signing of EU-LAC Foundation Constitutive Agreement at Ministry of Foreign Relations
On Tuesday night, president of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), and former Dominican Republic president, Dr. Leonel Fernández led the signing of the International Constitutive Agreement of the EU-LAC Foundation, an institution for which he serves as president and which was created in 2011 to fulfill an order from the European Union and the heads of state and government of Latin America and the

GFDD Boards the Peace Boat for a “Floating Festival for Sustainability” in New York
On Thursday, GFDD boarded the world’s largest passenger ship sailing around the world for peace, sustainability and innovation as it docked in New York City for two days (October 20-21) as part of Peace Boat’s 92nd Global Voyage for Peace.
