Philanthropists, Athletes and Artists Support GFDD through the Golf Tournament
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) celebrated the “IX GFDD Golf Tournament” on November 21st at Deering Bay Country Club in Coral Gables, Florida, with a total of 85 players. Dr. Leonel Fernández, President of the foundation attended the award ceremony gala, where he gave the 1st net and 1st gross awards, alongside GFDD executive director Natasha Despotovic.

Calasanz School Students Learn to Reduce the Use of Plastic Bags through Recycling
Within the framework of the celebrations for Family Month at Colegio Calasanz, the ReCrearte Program, an initiative of GFDD / Funglode, offered 5 workshops in the academic institution. More than 300 children between 4 and 9 years old attended the workshops taught by the program’s coordinator, Bertha Santana, from November 15 to 17.

New York Welcomes Profound and Revealing Nana Documentary During GFDD’s Dominican Film Showcase
In the second event in this year’s Dominican Film Showcase, a Big Apple audience enjoyed the documentary feature Nana and a discussion with its director Tatiana Fernández Geara, who traveled from the Dominican Republic to share her thoughts and impressions on this deep and revealing documentary on the emotional links between nannies and the children they care for.

Seeking to highlight the impact of climate change on children’s health, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development in partnership with the United Nations Association of America (UNA-USA) Council of Organizations (COO) and the Institute for Life Sciences Collaboration hosted a panel discussion at the UN Church Center on Thursday November 17, 2016. The event was divided into three segments including a climate panel with remarks by Marc Jourdan of GFDD on the outcome
of the recent UN Climate Conference in Marrakesh and Jon Lourie of Duane Morris LLP who considered the degree to which climate change is tackled under US environmental law.

Dominican Film Showcase Opens in New York to Laughter and Applause with the Comedy Todos Los Hombres Son Iguales
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) opened its Dominican Film Showcase in New York on Thursday night at Symphony Space with the comedy Todos los hombres son iguales, from Manuel Gómez Pereira. The event was attended by José Ramón Alamá, the movie’s producer and CEO of Bou Group, who introduced the film and chatted with the audience.

InteRDom at a Conference on the Future of the Dominican Workforce
On Friday, November 11th, 2016 InteRDom participated in the “Building an International Network for the Future Workforce of the Dominican Republic” Conference hosted by ConnectDR, a program which aims to foster collaboration among the private sector, higher education and government in the Dominican Republic. The event was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy at Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
