Dominican Environmental Documentary Exhibited in Upper Manhattan School
The Salomé Ureña School, situated in Upper Manhattan, was the perfect venue chosen to exhibit this past May 23 the documentary Cacú: un cambio por la vida (unofficial translation: Cacú: A Change for Life) to a group of parents whose children attend the school.

Students in Yonkers Middle School Enjoy Showing of Award-Winning Dominican Environmental Documentary On World Turtle Day
The student members of the Cultural-Hispanic Club of Yonkers’ Middle High School, in New York City, participated in a fun-filled afternoon this past May 22 during the showing of the environmental documentary Cacú: un cambio por la vida (unofficial translation: Cacú: A Change for Life). The event was organized by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) as part of the activities it programmed to celebrate World Turtle Day.

Gender violence continues to grow in Dominican society, which is why it is necessary that women learn to identify daily micro-assaults in order to stop the aggressor from escalating their violent actions.

DREFF and UNAPEC Will Celebrate World Environment Day and World Oceans Day
To commemorate World Environment Day, held each year on June 5th and World Oceans Day, held worldwide on June 8th, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and APEC University (UNAPEC), will feature films on both these subjects for professors and students from June 5-8, 2018.

The Big Apple Overtaken with Dominican Spirit During Showing of Documentary on Dominican History, Culture and Heritage
The feature Dominican documentary “Hay un país en el mundo” (There is a Country in the World) was presented in New York City in the Rafael Villalona Theatre of the Dominican Commission of Culture (CODOCUL)) last Friday, May 11, as part of the cultural program organized during the 26th Dominican Week in the United States. GFDD/Funglode Will Feature a Short Documentary on Violence Against Women
The first short documentary of the audiovisual project “Un acto de rebeldía al día” (non-official translation: One Rebellion a Day) will be presented on Monday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Funglode headquarters in Santo Domingo.

Celebrating Mother’s Day in Style!
On May 10, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Dominican Republic Embassy in the United States hosted an arts and crafts bazaar celebrating Mother’s day. Local artisans from the Dominican Republic visited Washington, DC to participate in several events and showings, including Passport DC, and made a stop in their busy agenda to meet and greet, and also sell their artisanal creations, to GFDD’s friends in a more intimate space.

DREFF and the Cinemateca Dominicana Will Exhibit Environmental Films to Celebrate World Environment Day
To celebrate World Environment Day, held annually throughout the world on June 5, the Dominican Environmental Film Initiative (DREFF) and the Cinemateca Dominicana will host free film showings on various environmental issues. The films will be exhibited, free of charge, from June 1 through the 6 at the Film Archive Cinema, situated in Santo Domingo’s Cultural Plaza.
