  • The Second DGT of the Year Brings Artist Xiomara Fortuna to the City of New York

    The second Dominican Get-Together (DGT) of this year brings to the city of New York Dominican multifaceted artist Xiomara Fortuna. She is a singer, songwriter, composer and researcher of Dominican culture, with over 38 years of musical career. In this complimentary event, which will take place on April 17, the audience will have the opportunity to talk with Xiomara about her career and her life. In this live concert Xiomara will perform some of her most famous songs.

  • Hundreds Enjoyed the Screening of Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience at the Blue Ocean Film Festival 2014

    An enthusiastic audience attended this year’s edition of BLUE Ocean Film Festival, held during November 3-9, 2014 in the city of St. Petersburg, Florida, where they had the opportunity to see the documentary Garbage or Resource? A Dominican Republic Experience on Friday, November 7, a film produced by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode). The documentary, which was a
    finalist in the category of Foreign Language Film, was directed by Natasha Despotovic, Executive Director of GFDD.

  • GFDD Presents the Documentary Descubre Barahona-Pedernales: Orgullo de mi Tierra

    Next Monday, October 6, 2014 Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will present the documentary Descubre Barahona-Pedernales: Orgullo de mí Tierra. The event, also coordinated by the “Asociación de Barahoneros de Nueva York”, will take place at 6:00 pm at the Isabella Home Center, located on 515 Audubon Avenue in New York. Guest speaker is Mr. Virgilio Gautreaux Piñeyro.

  • InteRDom Presents Ballplayer: Pelotero at Drexel University

    In collaboration with the Drexel University Spanish Club, InteRDom invites Drexel students, professors and community members to the screening of Ballplayer: Pelotero, directed by Guagua Productions, and narrated by actor, writer and performer, John Leguizamo on Friday, April 11 at 5:30 p.m.

  • New Generation of Dominican Filmmakers to be Presented at Drexel University

    As part of its popular Dominican get-togethers program organized to promote a better understanding of the richness and diversity of Dominican Culture, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) in collaboration with Café Latino, and the assistance of the Drexel University Spanish Club and will be hosting a Dominican film screening, to be held on October 10th, 2013 at Papadakis Integrates Science Building, Drexel University.

  • Dominican Get-Togethers in the Big Apple Hosts Literary Gathering

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), and the Dominican Cultural Commissioner in the United States, in collaboration with FUNGLODE’s esteemed publication Revista Global (Global magazine), invite you to a conference with acclaimed Dominican literary writer José Rafael Lantigua. The conference, entitled “Pedro Mir: From the Landscape of Love to the Seed of Hope”, will take place from 6:00-9:00 pm at the Auditorium of Instituto Cervantes New
    York, located between second and third avenues at 211 East 49th Ave, NY 10017.
