GFDD Hosts a Series of Recycled Art Workshops at the Centro Cultural Perello in Bani
As part of its mission to elevate awareness of environmental challenges and to promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), have once again joined forces with the Centro Cultural Perello in Baní to host a series of recycled art workshops throughout the month of May, which will

GFDD and FUNGLODE Rated Among Top Fifty Environment-Minded Organizations
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarollo (FUNGLODE) are proud to be rated among the top 50 environment-minded listed organizations in the DR. The Foundations are represented by their creative initiatives, the environment publication Dominican Encyclopedic Dictionary of the Environment
and the DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), which regularly brings national experts together with the most prominent international leaders in the environment field.

GFDD Organizes a Recycled Art Workshop in Samaná
In order to raise public awareness of environmental challenges while promoting protection of the earth and its natural resources, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources have organized a workshop on making art from recycled material.

DR Environmental Film Festival and Globo Verde Dominicano Award Bring Dominican Filmmaker to the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital
Armando Larrauri, winner of the first Globo Verde Dominicano environmental short film competition, was hosted by GFDD and FUNGLODE during the DC Environmental Film Festival which took place in the Washington, DC metropolitan area from March 12-24. Mr. Larrauri””s visit to the nations capital, and participation in the Film Festival, was part of the prize package he won having placed first in the Globo Verde Dominicano competition.

GFDD and the DR Environmental Film Festival collaborate with the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital
The Twenty-first edition of the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital came to a close today after two intense weeks, during which more than 190 documentary, narrative, animated, archival, experimental and children’s films were screen throughout the Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia region.

Two Dominican environmental productions were screened in Washington, DC, during the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital, under the program Living Waters, Ocean Life, developed in a collaboration with GFDD/FUNGLODE’s Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF).

GFDD’s Community and School Garden Program Initiates Second Stage Seed Conservation Workshops
The program, which to date has provided the materials and instruction to create and maintain vegetable gardens in 12 schools and 2 community centers in Santo Domingo, Bani and Azua, continues to expand by offering schools with previously established gardens, technical workshops to increase the students knowledge base.

GFDD and the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival Showcase at the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital
Between March 12-24, GFDD and the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival will be partnering with the Enviromental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital and contributing to the Spanish speaking program of the Festival with two short films, De Espaldas al Mar and The Growth of Lake Enriquillo: Environmental, Social and Scientific Implications.

Dominican High School Students Set Off on Mountain Trek to Pico Duarte
The Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD)and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), in collaboration with Fundacion Siempre Mas and Children International will be taking Dominican high school students on the 5th Educational Expedition to Pico Duarte this coming March 14-17.

Students Make History During Trip to Pico Duarte
The Fourth Educational Expedition to Pico Duarte, organized by Karim Mella’s Fundacion Siempre Mas, in collaboration with Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) among other organizations, took place this past February 21-24, with the participation of 76 high school students, 12 volunteers and a five-person team lead by Karim, an assistant, doctor, cook and
cameraman.
