The DREFF Kicks-off the Fourth Edition of the Globo Verde Dominicano Award with a Special Category for High School Students
The Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) will host the fourth edition of the first audiovisual competition in the area of environment and sustainable development in the Dominican Republic, the Globo Verde Dominicano Award. This year’s competition will include a special category for high school students: the Globo Verde Junior, which joins the Public Service Announcement, Short Film and Photography categories.

The ReCrearte Program Reaches Over 2,000 Dominicans in 2014
The ReCrearte program, an initiative of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), far surpassed the 30 workshops it had set as a goal in early 2014, and , thus, has benefitted more than 2,000 people in the Dominican Republic. A total of 85 workshops, which involved members from all walks of life and empowered the most marginalized groups of society, took place in 60 neighborhoods and communities across the country.

GFDD/Funglode Signed a Historic Agreement for Dominican Cinema with the New York Film Academy
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), and the prestigious New York Film Academy (NYFA) signed an agreement today under which Dominican film students pursuing academic film programs in the United States will receive a 25% tuition fees discount and will also have the possibility of taking courses in the Dominican Republic. The president of GFDD/Funglode and former
president of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández, signed the agreement today in New York City, together with the president of NYFA, Michael Young, at the Manhattan offices of the film school. The agreement represents a milestone in the history of the Dominican film industry.

InteRDom and University of Rhode Island’s Fifth Annual Winter Nursing Program Begins
The InteRDom program is excited to host a new group of University of Rhode Island (URI) students for the fifth consecutive winter nursing program from January 4 – 16, 2015.
