GFDD to Greet Director of UN Alliance of Civilizations at its November Session of GFDD Global Roundtables
For the November edition of its online broadcast program “Global Roundtable,” Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) is honoured to invite Matthew Hodes, Director of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.

GFDD to Host Panel Discussion on “The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development” in Washington, D.C.
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), through its initiative Dominican Film Showcase (DFS), will host a discussion panel on “The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development”. The panel will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. at the GFDD Washington, DC Office: 1629 K Street NW, Suite 1100, Washington, DC. A light lunch will be served.

GFDD to Support CILA 2014 in the Dominican Republic
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will proactively support the Americas International Conference (Conferencia Internacional Las Américas, CILA, for its Spanish acronym), to be held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, October 29 – November 2, 2014.

GFDD to Attend CIEE Conference and Relevant International Education Events
On November 19-22, representatives of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will attend the CIEE Conference 2014. Every year GFDD has participated in this annual event hosted by an important leader in the study abroad industry, the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE).

Five Dominican Students Successfully Complete Transnational Law Certificate Through GDAE
On October 26, 2014, five Dominican students from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) completed the Transnational Law Program at the University of Georgia School of Law, earning a certificate for the week-long program and bringing new knowledge and insight to the Dominican Republic on international and transnational policies in the areas of: environmental law, corporate law, criminal law and constitutional law.

GFDD Approaches the Global Challenge of Financing Development in the Post-2015 Agenda
In September 2014, the UN General Assembly received the report on the Sustainable Development Goals to guide the post-2015 global development agenda. One of the main challenges faced by the international community working on development is the access to financing mechanisms and options to implement the initiatives and programs needed to achieve the new global goals. To advance effectively towards the end of poverty and sustainable development financial resources and new tools are
needed.

Dominican Music Stars Rafael Solano and Johnny Ventura Take Over the Stage at the DGT in Miami
The Miami Dade College was the host of a lively music reunion with icons Rafael Solano and Johnny Ventura, distinguished promoters of Dominican music,who participated on Thursday, October 23, 2014 in the Dominican Get Together event, an initiative of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), and with the support of the Dominican Students Association of MDC and
the Dominican Consulate in Miami, FL.

Save the Date! GFDD to Host Dominican Films Showcase in Washington, D.C.
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) thru its initiative Dominican Films Showcase will be screening on November 19-23, 2014, a sample of the best films recently produced in the Dominican Republic, including La Montaña; Lago Enriquillo: preludio del cambio climático; ¿Quién manda?; 3 al Rescate and Sol Caribe. Special guests and activities for the children will also be part of the program.

GFDD Attends the 4th Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Sustainable Development
On October 21, 2014 the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) attended the 4th Regular Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Sustainable Development, at the Headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington DC.

“We Will Not Improve Education in Latin America Without Innovation and the Private Sector”
GFDD representatives attended the launch of the new book “Educación 3.0: The Struggle for Talent in Latin America” by Gabriel Sánchez Zinny, in a reception held at the Embassy of Ecuador in Washington, D.C. on October 21st, 2014, joining diplomats from several Latin American countries and representatives of multilateral organizations, think tanks and private sector companies working in education and/or development both in the United States and the region.
