GFDD to Host Panel Discussion on “The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development” in Washington, D.C.
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), through its initiative Dominican Film Showcase (DFS), will host a discussion panel on “The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development”. Five Dominican Students Successfully Complete Transnational Law Certificate Through GDAE
On October 26, 2014, five Dominican students from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) completed the Transnational Law Program at the University of Georgia School of Law, earning a certificate for the week-long program and bringing new knowledge and insight to the Dominican Republic on international and transnational policies in the areas of: environmental law, corporate law, criminal law and constitutional law.

GFDD Approaches the Global Challenge of Financing Development in the Post-2015 Agenda
In September 2014, the UN General Assembly received the report on the Sustainable Development Goals to guide the post-2015 global development agenda. One of the main challenges faced by the international community working on development is the access to financing mechanisms and options to implement the initiatives and programs needed to achieve the new global goals. To advance effectively towards the end of poverty and sustainable development financial resources and new tools are
needed.

Save the Date! GFDD to Host Dominican Films Showcase in Washington, D.C.
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) thru its initiative Dominican Films Showcase will be screening on November 19-23, 2014, a sample of the best films recently produced in the Dominican Republic, including La Montaña; Lago Enriquillo: preludio del cambio climático; ¿Quién manda?; 3 al Rescate and Sol Caribe. Special guests and activities for the children will also be part of the program.

“We Will Not Improve Education in Latin America Without Innovation and the Private Sector”
GFDD representatives attended the launch of the new book “Educación 3.0: The Struggle for Talent in Latin America” by Gabriel Sánchez Zinny, in a reception held at the Embassy of Ecuador in Washington, D.C. on October 21st, 2014, joining diplomats from several Latin American countries and representatives of multilateral organizations, think tanks and private sector companies working in education and/or development both in the United States and the region.
