The staff of GFDD was honored to have more than 60 guests, including prominent and distinguished members from international organizations, the diplomatic corp, and collaborators.

GFDD’s Eco-Huertos Program Brings Year to-a-close with Creation of 8 New School and Community Gardens
On December 11th, the Eco-Huertos Program, which seeks to support the creation of sustainable gardens in schools and communities throughout the Dominican Republic, successfully concluded a series of induction and garden creation workshops, which culminated in the establishment of 8 new fruit and vegetable garden systems.

The first college students from the Dominican Republic who participated in the Global Dominican Academic Exchange Program (GDAE) received a certificate of participation after their extraordinary experience at Yale University, which took place from Nov. 11 to 16, 2013.

DREFF joins the Dominican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources in raising awareness for ocean conservation
As part of GFDD’s Year-Round Environmental Film Screenings program, the DR Environmental Film Festival in collaboration with the Dominican Vice Ministry of Coastal Marine Resources celebrated a screening of the documentary film Planet Ocean on December 6th at Ministry headquarters in Santo Domingo.

Celebrating Dominican Artistic Achievement – FUNGLODE/GFDD Awards: Publication Launch and Announcement of 2013 Winners
On December 5, Editorial FUNGLODE released three publications containing the winning entries of the 2012 FUNGLODE / GFDD Awards in the categories of Journalism, Novel and Essay writing. On the same day, it also announced the winners of the 2013 FUNGLODE/GFDD Awards.

Yale University Hosts 10 Dominican Students for the First Successful Global Dominican Academic Exchange Program
The majestic campus of Yale University was an elegant backdrop for the first edition of the Global Dominican Academic Exchange Program, which drew to a successful close on November 16, 2013 after five days of rigorous academics, engaging dialogue, lively conversation and great fun between the student members of Yale’s Dominican Student Association (Quisqueyalies) and the ten student participants from the Dominican Republic.
