  • Former President Leonel Fernández Arrives in Geneva for High Level UN Meetings

    Dr. Leonel Fernández, former president of the Dominican Republic and current honorary President of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, and its sister organization Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo, will participate in the High-level Segment of the ECOSOC 2013 Substantive Session, to be held this week from Monday through Wednesday at the Palace of the Nations in Geneva.

    On Friday, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development participated in the 2nd Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNY) with the documentary, Ballplayer: Pelotero. This compelling documentary narrated by John Leguizamo is a gritty look inside the world of Major League Baseball (MLB) training camps in the Dominican Republic. Miguel Angel and Jean Carlos are two of the top prospects at an MLB training camp.

  • III DREFF Convenes First Volunteer Meeting

    On Tuesday, July 2, the organizers of the Third DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will convene  two separate meetings, one at 10 am and the other at 5 pm, to interview potential volunteers for the upcoming third edition of the Festival to be celebrated
    September 4-8, 2013.

  • GFDD and FUNGLODE’s EcoHuertos Program Takes Root in Haiti

    On June 22, GFDD/FUNGLODE are proud to announce that Ecohuertos, a program that supports the creation of organic and sustainable vegetable gardens in schools and communities throughout the Dominican Republic, will be heading to Haiti to meet with twenty women in the village community of Le Brun in the municipality of Paillant, Haiti.
