The former president declared that in terms of worldwide university ranking in the area of quality of instruction, the only Latin American universities that rank 200th or better are the University of São Paulo in Brazil and the Autonomous University of Mexico (Universidad Autónoma de México).

During the forum, which commemorated the International Day of Peace, the former Dominican President referred to the wave of violence that erupted in countries with large Muslim populations over the release of an amateur video that has been viewed as insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.
