Huge Turnout at the Lawrence, MA Screening of the Documentary “There is a Country in the World”
At the Lawrence Public Library in Lawrence, Massachusetts the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, la Fundación democracia y desarrollo (GFDD/Funglode) and the Dominican bank BHD-León held a screening of the documentary “Hay un país en el mundo” (There is a Country in the World). The library’s facilities were filled with enthusiastic guests –many of them members of the Dominican diaspora in
Massachusetts– as the film played during the evening hours of Wednesday, December 12. The film, which is a celebration of Dominican culture and heritage, was produced thanks to support from Dominican bank BHD-León.

Global Roundtable Interview with the Permanent Representative of Peru to the Organization of American States, Ambassador Ana Rosa Valdivieso
Martinez opened the discussion by asking Ambassador Valdivieso about Peru’s role in the OAS. The Ambassador stressed that “Peru is a country committed to democracy and to human rights.” “Both of these issues are fundamental to the job that I carry out at the OAS,” she said. Former President Leonel Fernández Presents Final Report on Mexico’s 2018 Electoral Process to the OAS Permanent Council
The former President of the Dominican Republic and President of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Dr. Leonel Fernández, presented the results of a final report on elections in Mexico to the Organization of American States (OAS) Permanent Council. Dr. Fernández served as Chief of the OAS Foreign Visitors Mission to the Elections in Mexico that accompanied the federal and local electoral processes held in that country on July 1, 2018.
