Globo Verde Dominicano Lab: Free Workshop from March 13 to 17 in Santo Domingo
The Dominican Environmental Film Festival and Globo Verde Dominicano Award are organizing a free film workshop from March 13 to 17, to be held at Funglode{s headquarters, with the title: “From Idea to Screen: How to Make Environmental Documentaries.” The instructor, director of documentaries and professor, Gabriel will work personally with each participant to help them develop their short film ideas, design main characters, write the script, choose a technical team and plan and
prepare content. The projects will be sent to the Globo Verde Dominicano competition.

DREFF Celebrates World Anthropology Day with the Science Academy of the Dominican Republic!
February 16 is the World Anthropology Day and DREFF celebrated it with the screening of The Anthropologist in Santo Domingo. The event was co-hosted by the Science Academy of the Dominican Republic. The screening took place within the framework of DREFF’s program Year-Round Environmental Film Screenings Program, which seeks to foster and inspire dialogue, raise awareness and promote sustainable practices by showing a diverse selection of quality movies on critical environmental and
sustainable development issues and organizing discussions and workshops.

GFDD Calls for a New Social Paradigm with Sustainable Tourism Playing a Key Role during the 55th Session of the Commission for Social Development
GFDD/FUNGLODE participated in the 55th Session of the Commission for Social Development which was convened from 1-10 February 2017, in New York, US. The Commission which opened on Wednesday February 1, under the priority theme “strategies for eradicating poverty to achieve sustainable development for all”, held its last day of negotiations on Friday February 10, when it approved three draft resolutions by the Economic and Social Council focusing on Africa’s development, youth and the
mainstreaming of disability in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Celebrating Love for the Environment on Valentine’s Day with DREFF
Hundreds of students of the Nazaret Community School (Centro Educativo Nazaret) in Hoyo de Friusa, near Bávaro in the East coast of the Dominican Republic, had a very different and fun Valentine’s Day this year. In collaboration with BeachCorps, EcoServices Dominicana, and FECOTUR, GFDD/DREFF co-hosted an environmental awareness activity, entitled “A Valentine’s Card to the Environment”, in which the children embarked in several arts and crafts projects to express how they
are loving and protecting their planet.

The Sixth Edition of Globo Verde Dominicano is Already Open for Submissions!
The Dominican Film Festival (DREFF) is pleased to announce the sixth edition of the first audiovisual competition in the area of environment and sustainable development in the Dominican Republic, the Globo Verde Dominicano Award. This year’s competition will include 4 categories: Globo Verde Junior, Public Service Announcement, Short Film and Photography. In the categorie of fotography the selected theme for 2017 is “Art and Sustainable Development”. This year the deadline to apply
