This event was organized by the Ibero-American Cultural Attaches Network in the nation’s capital, with the purpose of promoting the culture and heritage of the region.

Dominican Flavor Takes Over More than 8,000 Visitors during Passport DC 2016

Music Performance, Special Guests and Dominican Pride at the Launch of “Lo Dominicano/All Things Dominican” in New Jersey

Musto Cultural Center in Union City, New Jersey. GFDD and Funiber Join Efforts to Raise Awareness for a More Sustainable Planet
The Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (Funiber) organized yesterday the Conference “Effects of Climate Change Globally and in the Dominican Republic”, addressed to professionals in the environmental sector, and companies and professionals interested in issues related to the phenomenon of climate change and how to face it. As part of the activity, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), within the
framework of the program Year Round Environmental Film Screenings, presented their latest documentary, Value of Life. The short film shows how historically little value has been placed on natural capital when looking at growth equations and socioeconomic development, and highlights the most outstanding initiatives that public and private companies are developing to support sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.

Pediatric Hospital Doctor Hugo Mendoza Partners with DREFF in the Goal of Becoming the First Green Hospital in the Dominican Republic
Within the framework of the GFDD and DREFF program Year Round Environmental Film Screenings, yesterday the Pediatric Hospital Doctor Hugo Mendoza in Santo Domingo hosted the screening of the documentary A Thirsty World, within the programming of the Environmental Week that the medical center is celebrating these days. The hospital aims to be the first green institution of health in the Dominican Republic.

“All Stakeholders Must be Turned into Partners” States Vice President of ECOSOC at 2016 ECOSOC Integration Segment
GFDD/Funglode participated in United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) 2016 Integration Segment, under the theme “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through policy innovation and integration” at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 2 May to 4 May, 2016. This meeting served as an interactive platform for dialogue and exchange of best practices, lessons learned and recommendations to guide all stakeholders
present to implement the 2030 Agenda.

Centro Educativo Jardín del Saber Sets up its First Urban Roof Garden Thanks to EcoHuertos
In order to complete the creation of the organic and sustainable vegetable garden started last April, EcoHuertos Program Coordinator Cristiana Cruz Menier, worked last weekend with fifty people linked to the Centro Educativo Jardín del Saber, in La Zurza. The construction of the garden, an initiative without precedent in this area of the capital, laid on recycled materials and much creativity from the community. The garden, installed on the roof of the Center, is now a
reality.
