This event was organized by the Ibero-American Cultural Attaches Network in the nation’s capital, with the purpose of promoting the culture and heritage of the region.

  • GFDD and Funiber Join Efforts to Raise Awareness for a More Sustainable Planet

    The Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (Funiber) organized yesterday the Conference “Effects of Climate Change Globally and in the Dominican Republic”, addressed to professionals in the environmental sector, and companies and professionals interested in issues related to the phenomenon of climate change and how to face it. As part of the activity, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), within the
    framework of the program Year Round Environmental Film Screenings, presented their latest documentary, Value of Life. The short film shows how historically little value has been placed on natural capital when looking at growth equations and socioeconomic development, and highlights the most outstanding initiatives that public and private companies are developing to support sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.

  • A Caribbean Experience at the Dominican Embassy during Passport DC

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) will be partnering again with the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the United States to present the very best of the Dominican Republic during the 2016 Around the World Embassy Tour, a signature annual event in Washington, DC part of the Passport DC initiative.

  • “All Stakeholders Must be Turned into Partners” States Vice President of ECOSOC at 2016 ECOSOC Integration Segment

    GFDD/Funglode participated in United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) 2016 Integration Segment, under the theme “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through policy innovation and integration” at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 2 May to 4 May, 2016. This meeting served as an interactive platform for dialogue and exchange of best practices, lessons learned and recommendations to guide all stakeholders
    present to implement the 2030 Agenda.

  • All Things Dominican Launched in the Heart of Santiago de los Caballeros

    Lo Dominicano/All Things Dominican, a unique GFDD/Funglode publication, was launched yesterday in Santiago de los Caballeros at the iconic Centro León before an avid and diverse public interested in learning about some of the less known and picturesque aspects of Dominicanness. The Director of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) in New York, Yamile Eusebio Paulino, said that "with this publication, directed by the Executive Director of GFDD, Natasha
    Despotovic, we seek to reach to the heart of Dominicans who live in the country and abroad. It is a book that compiles many years of research and presents the essence of the Dominican Republic, capturing all the virtues of Dominicans and their land."

  • Centro Educativo Jardín del Saber Sets up its First Urban Roof Garden Thanks to EcoHuertos

    In order to complete the creation of the organic and sustainable vegetable garden started last April, EcoHuertos Program Coordinator Cristiana Cruz Menier, worked last weekend with fifty people linked to the Centro Educativo Jardín del Saber, in La Zurza. The construction of the garden, an initiative without precedent in this area of the capital, laid on recycled materials and much creativity from the community. The garden, installed on the roof of the Center, is now a
    reality.
