Fellows Program Announces Partnership with University of Rhode Island for Coastal Resources Master’s Fellowship
The Fellows Program, an initiative of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), together with the Department of Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island (URI) are excited to announce a new partnership to offer one master’s student per year in the Coastal Resources department a fellowship covering a master’s degree at URI with field research in the Dominican Republic. This fellowship is slated to begin in the Fall of 2015.

DREFF Establishes New Partnership with India’s CMS Vatavaran Environment and Wildlife Film Festival
The Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), a Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) initiative, signed an agreement with India’s International Environment and Wildlife Film Festival and Forum, CMS Vatavaran. With this agreement, DREFF expands its outreach by partnering with a festival in Asia, reinforcing its mission of developing global networks for the discussion of pressing issues and possible solutions.

DREFF and Instituto IBERIA Join Forces to Raise Awareness of the Environment in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), and initiative of GFDD/Funglode, signed a collaboration agreement with Instituto IBERIA that will help to continue increasing awareness of sustainable socio-economic development in the Dominican Republic, thereby promoting the exchange of experiences, knowledge, research and environmental awareness in general in the country, while foster a culture that encourages proper management and use of natural resources in Dominican
society.

DREFF and UNIBE Sign Agreement to Raise Environmental Awareness and Promote Sustainable Development in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of GFDD/Funglode, signed a collaborative agreement with the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE, by its Spanish acronym), to support activities that promotes sustainable development in the Dominican Republic. The contract was signed by Dr. Julio Amado Castaños Guzmán, Vice-chancellor of the academic institution, and Natasha Despotovic, GFDD and DREFF Executive Director.

GFDD/Funglode Signed a Historic Agreement for Dominican Cinema with the New York Film Academy
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), and the prestigious New York Film Academy (NYFA) signed an agreement today under which Dominican film students pursuing academic film programs in the United States will receive a 25% tuition fees discount and will also have the possibility of taking courses in the Dominican Republic. The president of GFDD/Funglode and former
president of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández, signed the agreement today in New York City, together with the president of NYFA, Michael Young, at the Manhattan offices of the film school. The agreement represents a milestone in the history of the Dominican film industry.

Green Film Network Welcomes DREFF as a New Member
The Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) ushered in the new year by joining the Green Film Network (GFN), the prestigious international association of environmental film festivals. Through its network of major festivals, the GFN promotes global awareness of environmental and sustainable development issues by coordinating the events of its member festivals, by promoting and distributing films worldwide, and by encouraging cooperative initiatives and projects. In its
homepage the association welcomes DREFF and explains its mission, vision and objectives. Its website also hosts a dedicated link to the Dominican festival.
