    With the participation of renowned experts from the Dominican film industry the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), and in collaboration with the Dominican Republic Film Commission (DGCINE, by its Spanish initials), presented the panel “The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an engine of socio-economic development”, on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at GFDD offices in Washington, D.C., as part of the Dominican Film
    Showcase (DFS).

  • El Centro León Welcomes Students for the Screening of the Documentary La Montaña, as Part of the Educational Trip to Pico Duarte

    A group of young students enjoyed the screening of the documentary La Montaña, a film that shows the adventure of the first Dominican expedition that ascends to the summit of Mount Everest in Nepal. The event took place on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Centro León, as part of the Educational Excursion to Pico Duarte and RDescubre program. This presentation is one of the initiatives that Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in
    theDominican Republic, Fundación Global Desarrollo y Democracia (Funglode) offers through this program.

  • Premio Globo Verde Dominicano Selects Its 2014 Winners

    At a special ceremony in the presence of renowned filmmakers and environmentalists, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) presented the winners of the 2014 Premio Globo Verde Dominicano at the IV edition of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF).

  • Globo Verde Dominicano to Recognize Films on Environmental Issues

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will recognize the production and distribution of films on climate change and sustainable development topics with the Globo Verde Dominicano Award 2014. This contest is an essential part of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) to be celebrated September 10-14, 2014; the winners will be announced on Saturday, September 13th, 2014.

  • DREFF Volunteer Meetings Held in Santo Domingo

    The organizers of the fourth edition of the DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), held two meetings with volunteers looking to help out at this year’s Festival, to be held September 10-14, 2014.

    On June 24th, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) joined the 3rd Annual Plasticity Forum, a one-day event examining the future of plastic, innovations in design and materials, all aimed at preventing plastic from becoming a waste product.
