GMAI and NALIP-DR Organize Film Presentation at FUNGLODE
On Friday, March 28, 2008, GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI) and the Dominican Republic National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP-DR) organized an evening of film screenings at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Assist in Organizing Intensive Course on Commerce and Environment for Government Officials
GFDD and FUNGLODE are sponsoring an intensive course on commerce and environment for government officials that is being organized by the Organization of American States (OAS), today, March 31, until April 4, 2008, at the Escuela Diplomática de la Cancillería de la República Dominicana (Dominican Republic Diplomatic School at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters) in Santo Domingo.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Will Support Inter-Regional Forum of Cities on Public Policy and Drug Treatment
GFDD and FUNGLODE will sponsor the Inter-Regional Forum of Cities on Public Policy and Drug Treatment, financed by the European Union and coordinated by the Organization of American States’ Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission. The event will be celebrated at the Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo, April 2-5, 2008.

Presentation on How Students Can Maximize the Benefits of Internship Opportunities
During InteRDom’s Annual Review, an event organized yearly by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), which seeks to elicit debate concerning global trends in the areas of training, management and human resource development, Lisa Stephenson, Director of the Graduate Student Career Development Center at George Washington University, provided recommendations on how universities and employers can aid students in
maximizing internship experiences.

InteRDom Annual Review: Professional Training Yields Corporate Returns
During InteRDom’s Annual Review, an event organized yearly by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), which seeks to elicit debate concerning global trends in the areas of training, management and human resource development, Jorge Chávez, Professional Training Director, Servicio Nacional de Adiestramiento en Trabajo Industrial (National Service of Industrial Job Training) in Peru, discussed the ways in which
corporations and organizations can benefit from internship programs.

GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI) will be offering the workshop, “From Conception to Execution,” at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo, April 7-11, 2008.

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), attended the NALIP Conference 9: Sin Límites: Trends in Pan-Latino Cinema, which took place March 7-9, 2008 at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott in Dana Point, California.

Inauguration of Sixth Annual Dominican Republic Model United Nations
Today, March 13, 2008, over 500 high school and college students, as well as teachers and professors, from the Dominican Republic, the United States and the region assembled at Fordham University in New York City to celebrate the inauguration of the Sixth Annual Dominican Republic Model United Nations (NYDRMUN), organized by the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR), in collaboration with Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación
Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE).

DRGFF Attends the 25th Edition of the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF)
This year, for the second time, staff members of the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (DRGFF), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) joined the participants of the MIFF from February 28 – March 9, 2008, in Miami, Florida, in order to continue building a solid network of film industry professionals and identify potential panelists and films for the upcoming 2008 edition of the
DRGFF.

Over 500 Dominican and International Students Will Represent UN Member States at NYDRMUN 2008
Around 500 young people from the Dominican Republic and other countries and regions around the world will be in session at Fordham University carrying out the duties of Ambassadors from the United Nations. On the last day of their work, they will receive Lecture Conferences from actual UN ambassadors at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
