Dominican-European Model United Nations Conference Opens
The Dominican Association of the United Nations (UNA-DR) and the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo / Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE / GFDD) officially opened the first edition of the “Dominican-European Model United Nations Conference (DEUROMUN 2010)” in the Amphithéâtre II of the Law School of the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris, France.

“New Perspectives: Dominican Republic” Exhibition in Playa Dorada, in Northern Dominican Republic
The traveling exhibition, “New Perspectives: Dominican Republic” is now on view, as of July 16, at the Playa Dorada Complex where visitors can see some 100 large (48” x 72”) aerial photographs of Dominican landscapes taken by French-Dominican (Puerto Plata) photographer Anne Casale.

InteRDom Fellow Yosmayra Reyes Realizes Investigation on the Challenges Impacting Mental Health Care Services in the Dominican Republic
Columbia University Student Yosmayra Reyes is currently in the Dominican Republic conducting research on mental health care services in the country. Her investigation seeks to assess the implementation and awareness of national legislature related to mental health, particularly in the nation’s rural areas.

On July 2, 2010, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Fundacion Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR), in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations, coordinated the panel “Empowerment of Young Women through the Youth Delegates to the United Nations Programme: Fostering Active Participation in Decision Making Bodies.”
