GFDD Launches Google Earth Tour of the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems of the Dominican Republic
Since 2010, GFDD has been working with the Sylvia Earle Alliance to create content for the “Explore the Ocean” layer of Google Earth, launched by Google in 2009. “Explore the Ocean,” curated by the Sylvia Earle Alliance, collects local stories and locally-based knowledge from people around the globe concerned about the health of the world’s oceans.

Certification Ceremony for Participants of First-Ever Educational Expedition to Pico Duarte
Tomorrow on June 22, 2012, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will host a certification ceremony for the students, educators and administrators that participated in the first-ever DREFF expedition to Pico Duarte. Press Gathering in Partnership with the Consulate of the Dominican Republic Helps to Increase Awareness of GFDD Programs and Projects
On June 5, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) partnered with the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in New York City to organize a press gathering at the Consulate, with the purpose of presenting the programs and projects spearheaded by GFDD to promote the social, economic and democratic development of the Dominican Republic and the professional and educational development of the Dominican community in the United States.

GFDD-UBUNTU Side Event in Rio Urges Stakeholders to Make Eradication of Financial Speculation of Food and Related Commodities an International Priority
Today, June 18, in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), along with partner institution UBUNTU – World Forum on Civil Society Networks, advocated that urgent actions be taken by the global community to curb speculation of food and related commodity markets, in order to reach internationally agreed upon benchmarks, including the Millennium Development Goals, and more specifically Goal 1, the eradication of extreme poverty and hunger.
