    The Former President of the Dominican Republic and President of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), Dr. Leonel Fernández, asserted on Monday, September 17, that the creation of the European Union, Latin American and the Caribbean Foundation (EU-LAC Foundation) represents a new paradigm for international relations that, in collaboration with non-State actors, develops and implements a strategic vision for
    regional exchange within a globalized world.

  • Dr. Leonel Fernández Will Deliver Address at Forum “New Grounds for the Relations between the EU, Latin America and the Caribbean – Towards a Relevant Partnership” in Hamburg, Germany

    Today, September 17, Former President of the Dominican Republic and President of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) will deliver an address during the forum “New Grounds for the Relations between the EU, Latin America and the Caribbean – Towards a Relevant Partnership,” organized by the European Union-Latin American Foundation (EU-LAC Foundation), the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and the
    Andean Development Corporation – Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) in Hamburg, Germany. GFDD and FUNGLODE, in addition to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), have been selected by the EU-LAC Foundation as strategic partners in the region.

  • GFDD and FUNGLODE Will Partner with PADF and World Wide Views to Convene Dominican Chapter of Citizen Dialogue on Biodiversity

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), together with its sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), will partner with the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) and World Wide Views to convene the Dominican chapter of the Citizen Dialogue on Biodiversity. The event will be celebrated during the initiative “World Wide Views on Biodiversity,” organized by the Technology Council of Denmark, with support from
    the United Nations Convention on Biodiversity.

  • Second Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) is Huge Success in Puerto Plata

    From September 6-8, Puerto Plata and Sosúa were converted, for the first time, into screening headquarters for the Second Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF). The event attracted the participation of a large group of students, residents and prominent authorities from the cities, including Eridania Llibre, the Governor of Puerto Plata, and Ilana Newmann, the Mayor of Sosúa.

  • Dominican Swimmer Marcos Díaz Encourages the Youth of La Caleta to Work Hard to Pursue their Dreams

    “We can achieve everything we desire regardless of what’s taking place around us. What’s important is to be determined,” declared Dominican swimmer, Marcos Díaz, during a motivational talk to young people from the community of La Caleta, on Sunday, September 9, which formed part of the Second Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), organized by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE).

  • Workshop on Recycling Promotes Creativity and Concern for the Environment

    Children and adults filled the large conference room at the headquarters of Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to learn about creating art from plastic bottles and cardboard cartons from instructors Bertha Santana and Moses Ros. The workshop “Recyclart,” was realized within the framework of the Second Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF).

  • Social Networks Provide an Ideal Scenario by which to Raise Awareness about Environmental Issues

    This Friday, September 7, the Second Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) organized the workshop “Social Networks as Generators of Environmental Impact,” which featured presentations by Farah de la Mota, Isaolym Mieses and Lorna Aquino, and a video presentation by Sebastián Bustamante. The workshop took place at the Headquarters of Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
