The GFDD and FUNGLODE showcased several publications including The Presence of Africa in the Caribbean, the Antilles and the United States, at a presentation and discussion panel at the 7th Annual Dominican Book Fair at Boricua College’s Manhattan campus.

Low Emissions-High Effect: DREFF Sets Out To Offset Carbon Footprint
On Sunday September 8th, GFDD/FUNGLODE held a reforestation activity in the Parque de la Biodiversidadin Monte Plata to mark the final day of the III DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) which took place at 19 screening sites and 8 cities across the Dominican Republic from September 4 to 8, 2013.

Jose Rafael Lantigua, guest of GFDD’s Dominican Get-Together program, spoke to a packed auditorium at New York City’s Cervantes Institute in collaboration with the Dominican Cultural Commission in the US and FUNGLODE’s esteemed publication Revista Global (Global magazine).

DREFF’s ReCrearte Program Gains Momentum Across the Country
The ReCrearte Program (www.r3crearte.org) is an initiative that was launched by GFDD and FUNGLODE, following the success of the Recycled Art workshop that took place during the second edition of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) in 2012.

Director of DR Environmental Film Festival Encourages Paradigm Shift to Slow Down Pending Damage to Natural Resources
Founder and Director of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), Ms. Natasha Despotovic, felt compelled to express her views about the critical situation the planet finds itself in at this moment in history. Her analysis and suggestions come at a time when fewer and fewer choices are left to slow the inexorable rush towards depleting or destroying the Earth’s vital resources. As GFDD Executive Director, Ms. Despotovic has rendered a thoughtful argument about how to
move forward in the hope of achieving a lasting and logical solution to these issues- starting with a paradigm shift.

GFDD Approved for Association with United Nations Department of Public Information
On September 11, 2013, the UN Non-Governmental Organizations Committee announced the approval of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development for association with the Department of Public Information (DPI).

Former President of the Dominican Republic, Fernández Calls to Increase Access to Technological Innovation
The former President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernández, declared that he sees the future of the country and of the rest of humanity with great optimism, mainly due to the “great revolution” that is occurring in the field of technological innovation and access to knowledge.

GFDD and FUNGLODE partner with City College of NY, on Photo Exhibit: Agriculture and People: Subsistence Practices of Hispaniola
GFDD and FUNGLODE, in association with City College of NY, Center for Worker Education, Division of Interdisciplinary Studies are partnering on a photo exhibit entitled “Agriculture and People Subsistence Practices of Hispaniola” showcasing works by Dominican conservation photographer, naturalist and illustrated-book producer, Eladio Fernandez.

InteRDom Announces First Activity of New Reverse Exchange Initiative: The Global Dominican Academic Exchange Program
In collaboration with Yale University and its Dominican Student Association, QuisqueYalies, InteRDom Internships in the Dominican Republic is proud to announce its latest initiative aimed at promoting cross-cultural communication and international exchange: the Global Dominican Academic Exchange Program.
