  • Special Screening of Film La Montaña for a Young Audience

    As part of the initiative Dominican Film Showcase, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will present the special screening of the inspirational Dominican film The Mountain (La Montaña), directed by Tabaré Blanchard and Iván Herrera.

  • III Dominican Film Festival in New York to Present GFDD/FUNGLODE Shorts

    On June 18, 2014, the Alumni Auditorium of the Columbia University Medical Center hosted the III Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNY) with a screening of the new Dominican film “To the South of the Innocence” (Al Sur de la Inocencia). The DFFNY will be held until June 22, 2014.

  • GFDD/FUNGLODE Fellow, Dr. James Mahon, Presents his Research at the Social Economic Council

    On Monday, June 17, 2014, Dr. James Mahon presented the results of his research, “Tax Reforms in Latin America,” for the Social Economic Council (CES in Spanish) in Santo Domingo. Dr. Mahon, Professor at Williams College in Massachusetts, was hosted by the distinguished Monsignor Agripino Núñez Collado and Dr. Irma Capriles, Executive Director of CES, a distinguished association of non-partisan representatives from the corporate, social and labor sectors who offer advice on public
    policy and political oversight.

  • Leonel Fernández traveled to Europe to participate in UN events

    The former President of the Republic and President of Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), Leonel Fernández, traveled to Europe where he will complete an intense work agenda that includes his prominent participation in the activities planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which will also be attended by the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-Moon.
