  • Fernández Highlights the Achievements and Challenges of Democracy in the Region

    The former President of the Dominican Republic and President of the Dominican Liberation Party, Leonel Fernández, said that more than three decades after democracy was installed in Latin America as the dominant political system in the region, today it is subject to new challenges due to the rise of a variety of political actors and the emergence of new institutions and forms of governance.

  • The Dominican Film Showcase Closes Its Washington, D.C. Edition with Merengue and Bachata

    The Dominican Film Showcase (DFS), an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), successfully ended last night with the presentation of the documentary film Sol Caribe, by filmmaker Félix Limardo. The diverse audience enjoyed a pleasant evening enlivened with the rhythms of Merengue, Bachata and Son, during the fifth and final day of film screenings that took place in Washington,
    D.C., between November 19th and November 23rd.

  • The Children, Absolute Stars at the Dominican Film Showcase

    Yesterday, the children were the absolute stars at the Dominican Film Showcase that Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) has hosted since November 19th and until Sunday, November 23rd, in Washington, D.C. The children enjoyed the first Dominican animated film, 3 al rescate, a story about teamwork, friendship and loyalty.

  • InteRDom Returns with New Ideas and Connections from 2014 CIEE Annual Conference in Baltimore

    The 2014 CIEE Annual Conference provided a great space for learning and networking as InteRDom representatives joined more than 500 international education professionals for the second consecutive year, discussing ideas and attending panels surrounding the conference’s theme, “Breaking Barriers: Cost. Curriculum. Culture,” held in Baltimore, Maryland, from November 21-22, 2014.

  • Dominican Diaspora in the Nation’s Capital Enjoys the Film Who’s the Boss? at the Dominican Film Showcase

    Among contagious laughter and before an enthusiastic audience the film Who’s the Boss?, of Dominican Director Ronni Castillo, screened on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the facilities of the Arts Museum of the Americas in Washington, D.C. The activity was part of the events that Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its initiative Dominican Film Showcase (DFS) presented in the capital of the nation, since it opened on Wednesday, November 19th.
