  • GFDD and Funglode Submit Written Statement during UN Post-2015 Talks Focused on Draft Sustainable Development Goals

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) were present last week during the 3rd session of the post-2015 Development Agenda Intergovernmental Negotiations: Goals and Targets (March 23-27, 2015) as divisions on how best to finalize a set of sustainable development goals (SDGs) moved to the fore. The meeting, which took place in New York, charged Member State delegates with hammering out a post-2015
    development agenda.

    The 9th Annual National Dominican Student Conference drew to a close on Sunday, March 29th at the University of Pennsylvania with the traditional mangú brunch and a time for reflecting on all of the friendships and professional connections created and/or edified over the weekend.

  • InteRDom Forms New Relationships with Universities at the Forum on Education Abroad Annual Conference

    The 2015 Forum on Education Abroad’s 11th Annual Conference created the perfect networking environment for InteRDom representatives, who joined more than 1,500 international education professionals and educators to discuss topics surrounding this year’s theme, “It Takes a Campus and More: The Faces of Education Abroad.” Program representatives also formed new relationships with university representatives and industry professionals from across the US and abroad. The
    3-day conference was held in New Orleans, Louisiana from March 25-27, 2015.

  • More Than 90 People Participate in La Vega in the Presentation about ReCrearte

    More than 90 people, including students and teachers from public and private schools as well as representatives of Cooperativa de Ahorros y Préstamos Vega Real, participated on March 25th in the talk organized by ReCrearte in the town of La Vega, as part of the XXII edition of the Geography Week, in collaboration with Listin Diario’s Plan Lea, under the slogan "More Food, Less Pollution."

  • 100 Students Attended the DREFF Year-Round Environmental Film Screenings in San Antonio de Guerra

    One hundred students from four public schools located in the Dominican district of San Antonio de Guerra enjoyed the screening of the short film Circular, by Mexican filmmakers Aránzazu Zamora and Alexandra Castellano. The activity, organized by the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) and the Institute of Environmental Law of the Dominican Republic (IDADR for its acronym in Spanish), took place on March 25 of this year. The Apolinar Concepción,
    Arcadia Reyes, Cleotilde Castillo and Tomás Hernández Franco schools participated in the event that was held as part of the implementation of the Eco-Schools program and in the framework of DREFF’s Year-Round Environmental Film Screenings program.

  • Tools and Networks for Hispanic Businesses at the 6th GWHCC Annual Business Expo

    Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the United States participated on March 24th at the 6th Annual Business Expo hosted by the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Tuesday, March 24th.  Aiming to increase tools and networks for Dominican and Hispanic businesses in the Washington, D.C. area, GFDD and the Embassy showcased the Dominican Republic
    through its food and beverage industries, natural resources and investment opportunities.
