  • DREFF 24/7: A New Online Platform for Environmental Films!

    Never relaxing in its efforts to promote greater environmental awareness and sustainable socioeconomic development, the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) has decided to take yet another leap into the digital realm, in addition to continuing with its trademark presentations, panel discussions, workshops, global strategic alliances, and exchanges of knowledge and experience with international experts.

  • GFDD Interviews Ambassador Diego Pary Rodríguez for Final Global Roundtable of 2017

    For GFDD’s fourth and final Global Roundtable of 2017, the Foundation obtained valuable insight from H.E. Diego Pary Rodríguez, Bolivia’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS). Topics such as the importance of inclusion of indigenous peoples in political society, Bolivia’s Law of the Rights of Mother Earth, the role of international organizations in guaranteeing common interests and norms, and lawful production of coca leaves were
    discussed.

  • Chasing Coral Elicits Reflections in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana

    On December 6th and 7th, two free film screenings were held for the acclaimed documentary Chasing Coral, directed by famed director and recent winner of the United Nations’ Champions of the Earth award, Jeff Orlowski. The film highlights the changes that are occurring in the world’s oceans and corals due to the effects of global warming, and has been shortlisted for the 90th Academy Awards consideration in the Documentary Feature award category.

  • Dominican Films “Jeffrey” and “Site of Sites” Presented at GALA Theatre

    Two Dominican films, Jeffrey and Site of Sites, were part of the 6th Annual ‘REEL Time at GALA Film Festival’ in Washington, DC, presented in collaboration with Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD). On November 30th and December 2nd, Washingtonians enjoyed these movies and post-screening panel discussions with experts, including Hugo Pagan, Dominican film critic and marketer, blogger and distributor; curator Carlos
    Gutierrez; and María Victoria Abreu, GFDD’s International Affairs and Socioeconomic Program Manager and Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF)’s programming director.
