DREFF: Special Guest at the First International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal
CineEco, in collaboration with the Green Film Network (GFN), will organize the 1st International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal, next October. The event, supported by the Portuguese Tourism Center, will take place during the 24th edition of the CineEco festival, October 13th to 15th. Natasha Despotovic, Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF)’s Director, has been invited to attend as a special guest, together with representatives of the most
relevant environmental festivals around the world.

GFDD Joins the Celebration of United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation
A special celebration of United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation took place at the UN headquarters in New York this September 12. The day celebrated the economic, social and political advancements made by developing countries and marked the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Buenos Aires Plan of Action for Promoting and Implementing Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (BAPA).

GFDD Celebrates Dominican Culture and Heritage with a Special Screening of “Hay un país en el mundo” in Washington, DC
Starting the celebrations of the Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), together with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Embassy of the Dominican Republic to the United States, the Dominican Ministry of Culture, and the Banco BHD León, screened the Dominican documentary “Hay un país en el mundo” (There’s a country in the world) on September 12, 2018.

Leonel Fernández Heads Young Diplomats Meeting in Panama Organized by EU-LAC Foundation
The former president of the Dominican Republic and president of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD/Funglode), Dr. Leonel Fernández, led the First Young Diplomats of Central America and the European Union Program, which was organized by the EU-LAC Foundation. Representatives from nearly twenty countries in the Americas and Europe participated in the event.

Washingtonians Enjoy the Taste and Culture of the Dominican Republic Alongside Some Baseball!
On Saturday, September 8 the event “Taste of the World International Food Festival” at Nationals Park was held. The Nationals celebrated Washington, D.C.’s international community with the third annual culinary event heard around the world. The Taste of the World included the possibility to enjoy numerous food and drink samplings provided by the participating Embassies, and the Dominican Republic was there, together with representatives from Korea, Qatar, Panama,
Honduras, Canada, Poland and Guatemala. In addition to the pre-game festivities, the celebration concluded with a baseball game between the DC Nationals and the Chicago Cubs.

Join GFDD in a Musical Celebration of the 70th Anniversaries of CoNGO and UDHR
The 70th anniversary celebrations of the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) will feature a free concert by the Carr-Petrova Duo in New York City. GFDD is among the organizers of this particular event and encourages all interested to attend.

On Wednesday, September 5th, a special screening of the film “Blue Heart” (2018) was co-hosted by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), the DC Environmental Film Festival (DCEFF), the Center for Responsible and Sustainable Travel (CREST) and Patagonia, at the Patagonia Georgetown store in Washington, DC.
