DREFF Joins 37 Festivals from around the World in the First International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals
Under the organization and sponsorship of CineEco environmental film festival that takes place annually in Seia, Portugal, the First International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals united 38 film festivals from all around the world, all the members of the Green Film Network. The director of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), Natasha Despotovic, was among the participants.

A Tribute to Dominican Heritage, “Hay un país en el mundo” Screened at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA
Last Thursday, October 11 a tribute to Dominican heritage took place with the screening of “Hay un país en el mundo” (There is a country in the world) at the Smith Campus Center on the Harvard University campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The event was organized by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), the Student Diversity and Inclusion Program Student Affairs Office of the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) and Comunidad Latinx at
HGSE in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States.

Global Verde Dominicano Award Winner “7 Gramos” Screened at Wildlife Festival
Over the weekend an Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital (DCEFF) Community Screening featured Dominican short-film and 2015 DREFF Globo Verde Dominicano Award winner “7 Gramos” (7 Grams).

DREFF will be Present at the 1st International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal
Alongside 35 other festival directors from across the globe, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) Executive Director and Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) Director Natasha Despotovic will be present at the 1st International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal next week, from October 13th to 15th. Despotovic will join the other festival directors in discussion and promotion of the environment through film. Areas for
collaboration and the sustainability of film festivals to promote social change will be debated in panel-style conversations.

In celebration of the 70th anniversaries of the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) a musical performance was held at the Salvation Army Auditorium in New York City.

Dominican Documentary “Hay un país en el mundo” to be Screened at Harvard in Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month
The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Banco BHD León, in partnership with the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), the Comunidad Latinx at HGSE and the School’s UndocuAllies Initiative will screen the Dominican documentary “Hay un país en el mundo” (There is a country in the world).

The OAS Initiates “Mirabal Sisters” Skills Course for Female Candidates
The Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM, for its initials in Spanish) and the School of Governance of the Organization of American States (OAS) invites all interested women to participate in the “Mirabal Sisters” skills course, aimed toward Dominican women that want to become candidates for public office at the national or local level.
