Water Conference Postponed
Due to unexpected circumstances, the speech scheduled to be given by water expert, Dr. Teodosio Paulino, “Water: Blue Gold,” has been postponed until further notice. The event was scheduled to take place Thursday, April 17 at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo.

Conference About Water as a Scarce Resource and Luxury Item

GMAI Course Workshop From Conception to Execution Comes to a Close
Thirty-eight students were awarded certificates for their successful completion of the workshop: “From Conception to Execution.” The class was offered by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo’s Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), and took place April 7-11 at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo.

GFDD and FUNGLODE Will Support Inter-Regional Forum of Cities on Public Policy and Drug Treatment
GFDD and FUNGLODE aided in organizing the Inter-Regional Forum of Cities on Public Policy and Drug Treatment, financed by the European Union and coordinated by the Organization of American States’ Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission. The event was celebrated April 2-5, 2008, at the Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo.

Workshop Adobe After Effects Draws to a Close
On April 4, 2008, sixteen GMAI students received certificates of completion for their participation in the workshop, “Adobe After Effects,” which began March 31 and was scheduled to come to a close April 4, but due to student requests, ended on April 5. The class was instructed by Editing and Postproduction Specialist, Jorge Mochón and took place at FUNGLODE Headquarters in Santo Domingo.

Pilar Sandóval, Executive Director of the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR), represented Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) NGO Forum, “The Role of Civil Society in Promoting Sustainable Development and the New International Aid Architecture,” which took place at UN Headquarters in New York City.

GFDD and FUNGLODE aided the Organization of American States (OAS) in organizing an intensive course on commerce and environment for government officials, March 31 — April 4, 2008, at the Escuela Diplomática de la Cancillería de la República Dominicana (Dominican Republic Diplomatic School at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters) in Santo Domingo.
